Three Short Poems by Joseph D. Milosch

How Warm the Moon

How warm the moon
resting
on our blankets.

Moonlight on Her Cheek

Moonlight on her cheek
what am I to do
but steal a kiss.

Old Cowboy

Flies, dust, campfire,
my horse peeing
by my bedroll.

Flies, dust and fire, and horse pee near the bedroll, I must say Joseph, it all sounds pretty hot, dirty, and stinky. Ha! Ha!

I gather that this is meant to be an allusion to Basho’s well known haiku:
nomi shirami / uma no shitosuru / makura moto

fleas and lice / now a horse pisses / by my pillow
