Summer Haiku, 2010

September 13, 2011 § Neal Whitman § Poetry Prof.

by Neal Whitman

Sumer Is icumen in… yes, summer has arrived. To be accurate: at 10:28 a.m. in my time zone (Pacific).

Summer seems to me the least complicated of the seasons. It is elemental: unlimited poetry in its simplicity. I expect nothing. Of course, nothing is worth expecting.

summer’s arrival
the door bell rings
and no one is there

Neal:

Lovely and thoughtful.

Expect nothing. Live frugally on surprise. ~Alice Walker

Have a happy summer.
