The Impossibility of a Poem

Here is a poem,
or collection of Haiku-like stanzas written during a bout of not writing:

The Impossibility of a Poem

Writer’s block and tackle?
Hoist me up
with a verse!

The only meter I can find
is the kind
that counts kilowatt hours

Even given time,
no rhyme
comes to mind

Other people’s dogs
don’t care
if I love them.

It took me a goodly while to understand what the last stanza has to do with the rest of it.

Now that I think I do, I quite like this.

Besides the last stanza, and how it wraps it up, I particularly like “writer’s block and tackle”.
