Poem for A Missed Chance

She recalls in the way he looks
At her- the unfolding of her Flower-
Smile. His love breaking through
is an invitation. Come he says,
Let me love you. Love me.
She wilts at the thought of crossing
into the territory of betrayal.
It would break her heart, break
the purity of their love.
So she collects herself
and retreats into wondering.
